Carl Pavano allowed Mike Aldrich to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
as the streaking Tampico Stogies defeated the Lewisville Fire Ants in 11
innings 4 to 3 at the ballpark.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Tampico was
victorious in the 11th inning. Eric Byrnes stroked a single. David Bell
stepped up to the plate and he lined a single. Jesus Colome then picked Bell
off first base. David Newhan stepped in and he lashed a single, and an error
was also committed, scoring the run. Tampico had 14 hits for the afternoon.
The win was credited to Pavano(5-8) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.
Jaime Cerda(2-3) took the loss in relief.
Tampico continued their winning ways, with their streak now at 7 games and
counting. 'We're on quite a roll lately' said Mike Aldrich. 'I just hope we
can keep it going.'
